Microchip Identification
Microchip identification is a way of permanently recording your pet’s identity and registering him or her with a central database. The microchip is a small electronic device which is placed under the skin of your pet in a procedure that takes seconds and is virtually pain free. Anyone with a microchip reader will then be able to ‘scan’ your pet’s identity chip and report the number to the central database who will reunite you with your missing pet.
Microchipping your pet makes it much more likely that you will be reunited should your pet go missing. Microchip readers are held by almost all veterinary surgeries and all rescue centres and police stations. If a pet is found and a chip is identified, the owners can be alerted very quickly.
